jeffreyknox: My first experiment with hugelkultur. It’s a small version of a proper bed, but I was curious to see if it works, and it allowed me to dispose of my brush pile and a lot of the partially composted food in my bin. Proper beds can be as much as 5 feet tall and require little to no watering. I made this one for growing potatoes because they don’t get along with other plants. One of the dogs has taken it upon himself to unearth the compost, so the gate to the garden is now closed at all times. Potatoes will go in soon, probably very soon due to lack of winter!
