Tarot Blades: Defining Magick: Cultural Appropriation Cont.
See, I still see a bit of a problem then, with just the perspective of cultural appropriation in general. I have so many things that have been crammed into my head regarding the issue that I’m honestly confused on a lot of it. I have been directly told that because I am white, I am inherently…
there is a difference between celebrating the beauty of other cultures and being ignorant to history. Intention is a huge part of this. I am not native american…if i decided to wear a headdress because i feel like it looks good on me…but dont think about how this affects those around me who are native or not…i am doing injustice. if you don’t like that other people are sensitive to this…than don’t appropriate things. if you are confused as to why people are sensitive then READ UP on the subject. we are all human…and make mistakes….it is our choice to learn from them or to make those mistakes over and over. white people arent always the problem…AMERICANS are often the problem. we are not mixed and homogeneous.
it is each persons right to be as SENSITIVE as they like..just as it is your choice to be an appropriating ignorant person.
